Alta and Snowbird, Utah

The reason I am combining these together is because they are together. Since Alta and Snowbird share a boundary line, the resorts allow you to buy a joint lift ticket, which allows skiers to ski on each slope without having to miss out on anything unless you are a snowboarder. Snowboarders are not allowed to shred on Alta's side of the mountain. The slopes receive an annual 600 inches of snow that can only compared to the fluffy cream atop a hot chocolate. Also, the terrain and surroundings of these resorts is unlike any other, with stunning views and runs, they are as fun as they are beautiful.

Crested Butte, Colorado

Crested Butte is one my personal favorite ski resorts. Rated #1 ski town in North America, the mountain offer a variety of different activities. Skiing, the most popular, consists of fairly easy, or extremely difficult runs without much in between. Crested Butte has more than 40 runs labeled EX, for extreme terrain, one of which is the steepest man-made run in North America. After skiing, visitors can enjoy activities such as hot tubbing, skating, tubing, or a meal out. Crested Butte also contains a large number of places to stay, many of which are directly on the slopes.

Vail, Colorado

Vail is the largest ski resort in the United States with over 5,200 acres of ski terrain. To accompany this massive mountain, Vail has 3 base areas for visitors. Every base area is home to 5 star dining restaurants, numerous spa's, and hundreds of rooms for overnight vacations. If you ever get tired of skiing, which is highly doubted, you can always move on to other activities such as snowshoeing, tubing, and even zip lining. For the more adventurous skiers and snowboarders, Vail contains 3 terrain parks and a 22 foot half pipe. After 5:00 pm when the mountain closes, the Town of Vail is great for nightlife. It has an ice rink, bowling alley, and fine dining which is almost as famous as the mountain itself.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is located near the west border towards Idaho. It attracts tons of tourists every year by its numerous activities, both summer and winter. However, in this case, we are going to focus on the winter side. Jackson Hole's reputation is known to be a large extreme resort, but little know that actually half of the runs on this 1250-acre resort consist of easy or intermediate runs. This helps the mountain cater to every visitor's needs. On the contrary, the resort also contains one of the worlds most difficult ski runs, Corbet's Couloir. Considered as "America's scariest slope," the run is about 10 feet wide with a steep cliff drop-in. After the hazardous beginning, the run is no difficult than a tough blue. Overall the ski resort, is considered by some #1 in the United States because of its vast land area and activities it provides and is surrounded by.
